H1N1 Vaccine Group Evaluation and Forecasting Rules

General Rules for H1N1

General rules are not series-specific; general rules apply to the entire vaccine group.

Novel Influenza H1N1 is no longer recommended.
- If the series is complete, the Recommendation is Not Recommended with a reason code of COMPLETE.
- If the series is not complete, the Recommendation is Not Recommended with a reason code of VAC_GROUP_NO_LONGER_REC.

H1N1 is Invalid with a reason code of OUTSIDE_FLU_VAC_SEASON if administered < 10/1/2009 or >= 7/1/2010.

The Live Vaccine Interval rule (also referred to as the Live Virus rule) applies to intranasal H1N1 vaccine. For the applicable CVX code, see H1N1 Vaccine Group#H1N1 Vaccines section of this page. For rule details, see the Live Vaccine Interval rule on the General ICE Rules page.

The CDC CDSi project's test cases (version 1.0 and version 1.1) do not include tests for the H1N1 vaccine group.

No combination vaccines exist, at this time, that include H1N1.

If a patient is >= 10 years of age at the time of evaluation, then the 1-dose series applies.
If a patient is < 10 years of age at the time of evaluation, then the 2-dose series applies.

When creating test cases, note that the absolute minimum age² will never be violated while applying the 1-dose series. The 1-dose series applies only to patients who are >= 10 years old.
