CVX Code Specific Rules

• There are no CVX-code specific rules beyond what is noted in the Vaccines table.

Notes

• ¹The ICE General Rule "Live Vaccine Interval" rule applies for these live vaccines.

• ²The ICE General Rule "Live Vaccine Interval" rule does NOT apply for CVX 206. CVX 206 does not replicate and for the purposes of timing and spacing recommendations behaves like non-live vaccines.

• ³CVX 325 is used for historical records where the formulation administered is not known or is a non-US product without an associated CVX code. Because the formulation is unspecified, in ICE, CVX 325 behaves like a live vaccine. This differs from CDSi where CVX 325 is NOT in the CDSi Supporting Data Live Virus Conflicts spreadsheet and therefore behaves like a non-live vaccine.

Series Selection Rules

There are two series for this vaccine group: the Mpox 2-Dose Series and the Mpox 1-Dose Series. The rules for determining which series applies are:

• If a CVX 75 or CVX 105 dose is administered for dose 1, then the Mpox 1-Dose Series applies, unless the following exception is true:

  • If a CVX 75 or CVX 105 is administered on the same day as a valid CVX 206 for target dose 1, the Mpox 2-Dose Series applies.

  • Evaluate the CVX 75 or CVX 105 as Invalid with reason code DUPLICATE_SAME_DAY.⁴

• If the above is not true, then the Mpox 2-Dose Series applies, unless the following exception is true:

  • If a CVX 325 is administered on the same day as what would otherwise be a valid CVX 75 or CVX 105 for target dose 1, the Mpox 1-Dose Series applies.⁵

• ⁵According to the ICE General Rule: Two Shots, Same Vaccine Group, Same Day - #2, if one of the shots is an NOS CVX, then evaluate the NOS as Invalid / DUPLICATE_SAME_DAY and evaluate the other CVX as Valid.

Series Special Rules

• The series is complete after 2 doses.

• Recommend CVX 206 at the vaccine level for target dose 2.

• If the 2nd shot is administered below the minimum interval, evaluate the shot as Valid with reason code SUPPLEMENTAL_TEXT and descriptive text: “The interval between this dose and the prior shot is less than the minimum interval. The dose does not need to be repeated unless the patient is severely immunosuppressed, in which case the repeated dose should be administered after the dose given in error by at least 28 days.”, unless the ICE General Rule "Live Vaccine Interval" applies.

• If an additional shot is administered after the series is complete, evaluate it as Valid or Invalid (based on minimum interval/minimum age rules, where applicable). Evaluate all additional shots afterwards as Accepted / EXTRA_DOSE.
